Pioneer Ministry Training Program
Creative Access Training Program—Experiencing creative access life and ministry through an immersive missionary training program.
Is God calling you to be salt and light in an unreached country in Africa? Are you discerning whether missions is your call long-term? Do you want to gain experience and learn about culture and how to be an effective ambassador for Christ?
This program combines language study, cultural exploration, and training in ministry aspects specific to creative access to prepare you for whatever God has for you next. Join a diverse team for an immersive and educational program that will allow you to undergo training and gain experience in missions before committing longer-term.
The program includes language study, cultural exploration (homestay with a local family and cultural workshops), required reading and discussions, relevant ministry experience in the local context, and intentional spiritual growth. Participants will study language and culture at an existing cultural exchange center in the country and will establish an identity as students (not missionaries, due to the creative access nature of the program) when interacting in the community. Participants who pass through the program may receive a recommendation for long-term service in the Church of the Nazarene.
Responsibilities:
- Language Study—Will study the local dialect of Arabic, attending in-person class sessions and studying outside of class (homework, review, and conversation practice).
- Cultural Training and Immersion—Expected to attend and participate in workshops related to culture and complete a homestay with a local family. Will also complete the guided reading and be an active participant in discussions about relevant cultural themes.
- Business Experience—Support the tent-making business as requested.
- Spiritual Growth—Maintain a personal dynamic walk with the Lord through daily communion with Jesus, weekly prayer gatherings, and other meetings.
- Relational Evangelism—Working in a creative access area requires relational evangelism. Participants will shine the light of Christ to teachers and neighbors who do not yet know Him. Building relationships often means regular visits to local homes.
Requirements:
- Must embody a learner’s attitude of humility.
- Desire to live among and connect with Muslims, building authentic relationships of mutual understanding and respect.
- Must be in line with the core values of the business owners and country team: security-minded, valuing relationships and a long-term scope, authenticity, hospitality, learning, relevance, and interdependence.
