Youth and Worship Ministry Assistant

Is God calling you to serve in a diverse European city where relationships, creativity, and mission intersect? The Church of the Nazarene in Oslo is seeking a Youth and Worship Ministry Assistant to help develop youth discipleship, support worship services, and strengthen communication and community engagement within the life of the church. This role is ideal for someone who senses a call to ministry and desires hands-on experience in a growing multicultural church.

The position combines youth ministry, practical service, worship support, and digital communication in a relational ministry environment. Oslo is a vibrant and diverse European capital with people from many cultural backgrounds. At the same time, Norway is considered one of the most secular societies in Europe, where many young people have little or no connection with the church. Our congregation reflects this diversity and seeks to be a welcoming spiritual community where faith can be explored, discipleship is nurtured, and new people encounter the love of Christ. The Youth and Worship Ministry Assistant will play an important role in helping young people grow in faith while building bridges between the church and the surrounding community.

Responsibilities:

• Help develop and strengthen youth ministry through discipleship, fellowship, and relational engagement.
• Assist in organizing youth gatherings, events, and spiritual formation opportunities.
• Participate in facilitating youth or young adult discipleship groups or Bible studies.
• Help develop connections with youth groups in other churches.
• Encourage fellowship and collaboration with other Christian communities in the city.
• Participate in regional Nazarene gatherings and ministry training when possible
• Provide practical support during worship services and church events.
• Assist with sound, media, and technical aspects of worship gatherings.
• Support the planning and coordination of church activities and special events.
• Assist with maintaining and updating the church website and social media platforms.
• Help promote church activities and events through digital communication.
• Support the preparation of presentations, PowerPoints, and other ministry materials.
• Assist with administrative and organizational needs within the church.
• Serve in practical ways that support the overall mission and ministry of the congregation.

Requirements:

• A clear sense of calling to serve in local church ministry.
• A heart for youth discipleship and worship ministry.
• Currently pursuing or preparing for theological or ministry education.
• Strong relational skills and the ability to connect with young people.
• Flexibility, reliability, and a servant-hearted attitude.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with pastoral leadership.
• Interest or experience in media, sound, or digital communication tools used in church ministry.
• Language Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of Norwegian or willingness to learn the language over time will be an advantage for building relationships in the local context.

The candidate should demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, actively participate in the spiritual life of the church, and live in a way that reflects the values and teachings of the Church of the Nazarene.

Supervision and Development

The Youth and Worship Ministry Assistant will serve under the supervision of the lead pastor and will receive mentoring and ministry development as part of the role. As missionaries of the Church of the Nazarene they will stay in close contact with the district, field and region.  This position is intended to provide practical ministry formation and leadership development for individuals exploring a long-term calling to ministry.
