Missions Intern in East Asia

Is God calling you to a creative ministry among one of the world’s largest Unreached People Groups (UPGs)?   The volunteers will work alongside the pastor of Yorokobi Church of the Nazarene in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan. They will serve at the international school and the pre-school ran by the church, and connect with the youth groups and the community. While there are currently 69 churches in Japan for the Church of the Nazarene, there remains the prayer for the Lord of the harvest to send out workers in the harvest field, knowing that Japan has a big percentage of an unreached people group in the world. Most of the members of the churches are elderly and in order to reach this generation and the next, we need to raise up the young people who will attract their kind.

Responsibilities:

• Work alongside the pastor of Yorokobi Church of the Nazarene in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan.
• Serve at the international school/pre-school ran by the church.
• Connect with the youth groups and the community.
• Support the work of Pastor Tomo and his team to engage the community with the love of Christ.
• Learn about Japanese culture through building relationships in the church, school, and neighborhood
• Help with Grace International School and the pre-school by teaching English classes/Summer camp

Requirements:

• Spiritual and emotional maturity
• Evidence of call to long-term cross-cultural service,
• Ability to make cross-cultural relationships,
• Self-starter, and the ability to communicate effectively
• Biblical truth in interpersonal and small group setting,
• No pre-field language ability required; language study will be part of assignment.
• Bachelor’s degree required for obtaining visa through language school
