The Associate Chaplain collaborates with the Chaplain to provide spiritual nourishment and transformative experiences for the university community through chapel services, discipleship programs, and spiritual groups. This role serves both physical and online students, ensuring they have access to chaplaincy services that support their faith and personal growth. Additionally, the Associate Chaplain is responsible for fostering the spiritual well-being of staff and students by organizing and leading chapel services, facilitating discipleship initiatives, and building a strong faith-based community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Chapel Programs & Services:  Plan, coordinate, and execute chapel programs, including acquiring instruments, developing content, managing announcements, and communicating with preachers and servants.
  • Religious Clubs & Bible Study:  Oversee religious groups and Christian Union activities, ensuring alignment with Wesleyan Arminian Holiness principles.
  • Work Study Program:  Supervise the selection, identification, and performance review of work-study students.
  • Pastoral Care & Counselling:  Provide pastoral support, including counseling, prayer, discipleship, and mentorship for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Community & External Relations:  Foster relationships with Nazarene organizations and other universities, promoting spiritual outreach and community mission involvement.
  • Leadership Development & Training:  Train and support leaders in spiritual life and discipleship while advising on campus spiritual formation and development.
  • Budget & Resource Management:  Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and financial monitoring for departmental activities.
  • Strategic Planning & Monitoring:  Develop and track the department?s annual plan and strategies to align with the university?s overall objectives.
  • Staff Supervision & Mentorship:  Mentor, coach, and oversee subordinate staff.
  • Reporting & Advisory:  Provide technical advice and reports to university management as needed.

Academic and Professional Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Theology, Religion, or a related field
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Ordained Minister in the Church of the Nazarene. 
  • Language – English is a must.
